To infinity and beyond

Joiners Arm 23 January Harmonies Devon Event

Walking to the Joiners Arm with my keyboard on my back and my sack trolley with other equipment dragging behind me, I was feeling very sorry for myself. The rain and wind was gushing onto my body sending chills within.

I had told those close to me that this was going to be my last event, as I just did not feel I was capable of making future music well being events a success. I also had a heavy load of personal problems on my mind.

Once I had set up my keyboard, upon arriving early, I played a few songs and surprisingly started feeling a bit of Joy. ‘It’s great to be out of my home studio playing music at a different place with different acoustics in the room to my home.’ I thought to myself

Then as people started arriving, I expressed my feelings that today was going to be my last Harmonious Devon music well being event. Some attending informed me that they were attending today especially as they heard it was going to be my last event. I felt my heart melting and my fears slowly fading.

As the hour rapidly ticked by, I saw joy on people’s faces, they were engrossed in sharing and learning new music experiences and they forgot the challenges they were facing for a moment. I felt the same and said out loud, ‘You know what, maybe we should come again next week?’ Everyone in the room was excited and expressed their enthusiasm.

Being open at the beginning of the session that I was struggling, I did not feel judged. Many expressed that they did not feel pressure trying to play instruments clumsily and warily. We all grew in our friendship and I look forward to our next Harmonious Devon music well being event at the Joiners Arm, Bideford, 30 January 2024.

Me sharing some beats.

Heart rendering story Robin. What a marvellous testimony of the struggles we all face from time to time , and are called upon to persevere, ride the storm and press on. Proud of you as always – well done.
